Revised Guidelines on the Accreditation of Training Providers for Detailmen, Medical Representatives and Professional Sales Representatives
Manila, March 18, 2016 --- The Professional Regulation Commission approved PRBOP Resolution No. 96 Series of 2015 entitled “Revised Guidelines on the Accreditation of Training Providers and Programs for Detailment/Medical Representatives/Professional Sales Representatives” effective on March 8, 2016.
In accordance to Republic Act No. 8981, otherwise known as the PRC Modernization Act of 2000, Section 12 of Republic Act No. 5921, known as “An Act Regulating the Practice of Pharmacy and Setting Standards of Pharmaceutical Education in the Philippines and for Other Purposes” detailmen in any pharmaceutical laboratory and other manufacturers, distributors, dealers and wholesaler of medical, dental, pharmaceutical, biological and veterinary products are required to register with the PRBOP. PRBOP issued Board Resolution No. 3, Series of 2015 entitled “Reinforcing the Legal Requirements on the Mandatory Registration of Detailmen/Medical Representatives/Professional Sales Representatives with the Professional Regulation Commission and the Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy”, and Resolution No. 7, Series of 2004 prescribing the qualification and criteria for accreditation of training provider as a condition for their registration with the Commission and the Board.
After revisiting the said guidelines, the Professional Regulatory Board of Pharmacy determined the need to update and clarify the accreditation requirements and procedures to assure competence of the training providers, the quality of their programs and the qualifications of their speakers and training facilitators.
